Medway Bridges Festival - September 25 & 26

post

The Medway Cultural Council and The Medway Trail Club are teaming up to host an outdoor celebration this fall, along our beautiful Link Trail between Choate Park and Lovering Street. It will be an opportunity for all to gather after many months of COVID restrictions, and a chance to unveil new themes and installations at all of the 11 trail bridges along the way. While partly designed to improve safety on the trails, the themes will add interest to our outdoor spaces, help us understand Medway history, and provide permanent venues for installations about engineering, fiber art, poetry and storytelling, visual art, musical harmony, and more, as well as honoring those who helped establish our conservation corridor and who built the trails and bridges we use to access them. During the festival, there will be lots to do and see: live music, a poetry slam, an art exhibition, a historic actor teaching us about the history of straw bonnet making, souvenir crafts, nature activities, a farm exhibit and more. We hope that the themes and the festival will help us recognize the connections we have to our town, to each other, and to our beautiful world. Permanent installations will also be installed, to keep the connections happening for years to come.
