OSRP Task Force

The Planning and Economic Development Board has established the Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP) Update Task Force to work with Town staff and a planning consultant to update the 2009 Medway Open Space and Recreation Plan. The 7 member Task Force includes representatives of the Open Space Committee, Conservation Commission, Board of Parks Commissioners, Planning and Economic Development Board, Board of Selectmen, School Committee and an at-large member. Town staff involved in planning, conservation, and public facilities operations and maintenance will assist.

An updated and recognized OSRP by the Division of Conservation Services within the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs is a requirement for municipalities to submit applications to the state for various grants for open space land acquisition and development and recreational facilities. With the community’s growing interest in open space, recreational facilities and trails, it is an opportune time to articulate Medway’s goals and establish an overall plan.

The Medway OSRP was last published in 2010.  Please click here to view that plan.

Town Meeting authorized the expenditure of up to $25,000 in Community Preservation Funds to retain a conservation planning consultant to work with the Task Force and staff to undertake the update.  A Request for Proposals (RFP) was used to solicit consultant proposals. The Town received six proposals which were reviewed by the OSRP Task Force in late May.

The Town has hired Conservation Works, LLC of North Hatfield, MA for this project. http://www.conservationworksllc.com/

The OSRP Task Force has staff support from Susy Affleck-Childs, Planning and Economic Development Coordinator, Bridget Graziano, Conservation Agent, and Dave D’Amico, DPS Director. Please direct any questions to 508-533-3291.
