CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE (3/15/2020)

Governor Baker's administration ordered all public and private schools across Massachusetts to close for three weeks.  In addition, the administration limited all restaurants to takeout and delivery as of Tuesday, March 17th.  In addition, public gatherings were lowered to 25.  The new limit applies to all community, civic, public, leisure, faith-based events, as well as sporting events with spectators, concerts, and conventions. It covers fitness centers, private clubs, and theaters. The new restrictions on schools, restaurants, and large gatherings will be lifted April 6th.

CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE (3/15/2020)

As we continue to monitor events related to containment efforts of COVID-19 spread, the Medway Public Library will be CLOSED effective immediately. Staff will be present but the building will be closed to the public. The situation will be evaluated next weekend to see what next steps will be required. Again, each of these decisions are made with an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our Community.

All Medway Town Offices & Buildings will be CLOSED to the public effective immediately (as of March 15th) until further notice. This includes all town buildings and playgrounds. Essential employees and all public safety employees will be available and will keep the lines of communication open with residents.

It is with an abundance of caution that the following adjustments have been made to town buildings and programs: Medway Council On Aging: CLOSED Monday, March 16th - Monday, April 6th. Please note staff will be working. Medway Public Library: The building will be OPEN but all programs are suspended until Monday, April 6th. Medway Parks and Recreation: All programs CANCELLED until Monday, April 6th.All events that were scheduled for this weekend have been CANCELLED and the above building operations & programming will be re-evaluated - April 6th.

As the landscape of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) changes minute by minute, Town Officials would like to make residents aware that we are closely monitoring the situation. All Department Heads are participating in an Emergency Preparedness Operations meeting this morning and we continue to monitor our overall operational plan on an ongoing basis. As it currently stands, the Senior Center continues to be open, but we are evaluating events on a case by case basis. The Senior Center is CANCELING it's St. Patrick's Day party (which was to be held on 3/19). We will keep you updated on any further adjustments. Please remember, if you show any symptoms or feel uncomfortable participating in events, please use caution and remain at home.

The health and safety of our residents is of utmost importance to us.  We are keeping up to date with The Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control's recommendations.

Although the risk to Medway residents is low, everyone is urged during this cold and flu season, to take all precautions including the most basic of rigorous hand washing.

One segment of The Town of Medway's population we look to support is our senior population. The Medway Council on Aging will be monitoring developments of the virus. Please note, as we move forward, it may become necessary to make schedule adjustments to the Senior Center hours. It is also highly encouraged, that anyone experiencing flu or cold like symptoms, refrain from visting the Medway Senior Center until they have recovered.

Additionally, Police and Fire personnel, in partnership with the Medway Health Department and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, will be taking appropriate steps to protect all of our personnel as they respond to emergencies and calls for service during this period.  Further, our police and fire department stand ready to assist those in need according to established protocols.
