Town Manager, Michael Boynton is pleased to announce the appointment of William Kingsbury, Jr. as the Town of Medway's Chief of Police, effective July 5, 2022. Lieutenant Kingsbury started his career with the Medway Police Department in 1993. His first role within the Department was as a part-time public safety dispatcher. In this role, he witnessed the standard of excellence that the Medway Police Officers uphold.  It was then that he made the decision to become a Police Officer and was grateful to be given the opportunity to join the ranks. He went on to pursue a Criminal Justice Degree from Western New England University and a graduate degree in Criminal Justice Administration. He graduated from the Canton Police Academy in 1995. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2002, and shortly thereafter was assigned as a Detective Sergeant, and performed this role for fifteen years. He was promoted and has served as a Lieutenant since 2017, and is looking forward to his next role, as the Town of Medway's Chief of Police.

Chief Allen Tingley will retire as Chief of Police on July 5, 2022. There are not enough words to express our sincere thanks to the Chief for over forty-five years of service to the Town of Medway. Taking a look back at his incredible career; he was named Chief on June 30, 2007. Prior to being named Chief, he worked his way up the ranks as an investigator, detective, sergeant, and lieutenant. He was always intrigued with public safety and especially the idea of a career centered on helping people.  A life-long resident of Medway, these interests were what led him to his first role within the Police Department as a part-time police and fire communications dispatcher, to a full-time police and fire communications dispatcher, and then to a full-time police officer where he remained for eleven years at the beginning of his career.

All of us in the Town of Medway want to thank you for bridging the divide between law enforcement and the public, especially with children and the elderly. Your high level of community outreach and involvement ensures the department will continue to maintain its goal of being seen not only in times of crisis but also in times of good.

All the best in your retirement!
