Recap of Select Board Meeting Held on September 18, 2023

If you could not attend Monday's Select Board meeting, here is a recap of what happened. A public hearing was held for an all-alcohol license for a new restaurant in Town featuring sushi, Asian fusion, and a lounge/bar on the premises. The owner, Thomas Chan, told the board he would be the restaurant manager and was excited to share that the restaurant has been completely renovated and includes a new bar/lounge area. The Board approved the all-alcohol license by a 4-0 vote, and they are now awaiting approval from the ABC. The Board approved the appointment of Keith Goddard and Emre Guzelsu to the Capital Improvement Planning Committee (CIPC) by a 4-0 vote. The board authorized the expenditure of $8,500 for a cyber security grant by the MIIA.

Peter Pelletier, Director, and Nolan Lynch, Highway Superintendent of the Department of Public Works, reported on the summer projects concerning highway operations in town.

West Street sidewalk project. Lynch's persistence with Eversource and Verizon was rewarded when he got six poles and an anchor removed on the West Street sidewalk project, a request that is not easy to fulfill. This removal allowed for a redefined intersection and the much-needed improvement of the corner and the stormwater. Two thousand two hundred linear feet of roadway was improved in the West Street area, along with two rain gardens and improved culverts.

39 Main Street sidewalk project

This project included improving the sidewalks, lighting, stormwater curbs, and beautiful concrete sidewalks. The town planted a tree on one of the neighbor's lawns in continuation of our cut a tree, plant a tree program.

Sidewalks - Holliston Street from Rte. 109 to Ellis Street #26 and Island Road to Charles River Road - Sidewalk improvements, including installing ADA-compliant ramps.

DPW reports over ten lane miles of improvements made this summer on roadways and over 2 miles of sidewalk improvements.

Mr. Boynton noted that coordination doesn't just happen. Mr. Lynch provides a nightly report. Brush cutting, maintenance, preparing for snow plowing.....all DPW staff is committed to ensuring the roads look good!

The board voted 4-0 to approve the health insurance agreement with the Massachusetts Strategic Health Group.

The board voted 4-0 to approve the 'FY25 Budget calendar (no changes from last year).

The Board voted 4-0 to close the November 13, 2023, Fall Town Meeting Warrant and Refer the Zoning Articles to the Planning and Economic Development Board. Note, there is a Citizens Petition on the proposed restriction on shooting.
