Junior Citizen Spotlight: Jess Green

Medway High School student Jess Green represents Medway very well throughout the state with her musical talents.  She recently performed as principal trumpet at the Massachusetts Music Educators' Association All State Orchestra Festival at Symphony Hall in Boston. 

Jess has played piano for 14 years and trumpet for 8 years.  She also plays drums for fun.  She plays in the Medway High School Band as well as a jazz band outside of school.  She often plays open mics and coffee houses.  She also plays taps at the Memorial and Veterans days ceremonies. 

Jess teaches trumpet lessons to middle school students and plans to be a school teacher and band director.  She was inducted as a charter member to the Tri-M Music Honor Society, part of the National Association for Music Education.  She also participate in the Youth Orchestra Program at the Rivers School Conservatory.

Jess also volunteers for the Medway Friends of the Performing Arts, started by her mother Kevin Green.  The mission of Medway Friends of Performing Arts is to foster and promote excellence in the performing arts programs in the Medway Public Schools.  Started in 2013 MFPA supports music and theater programs in the Medway Public Schools. They fund items and projects that are not covered by school budgets through fundraising efforts such as the recent mattress sale held at the Middle School.
