Hydrant Flushing - currently working on Zone 2 (week of April 28 - May 7)

In our continuing efforts to improve & maintain water quality, town-wide hydrant flushing will be conducted over the coming weeks. The majority of the flushing will occur during the overnight hours, with an occasional need to flush during the day.

Medway will begin hydrant flushing in Zone 1 (see map below) starting Sunday, April 23 at 9:30 p.m. thru the evening hours until about 5:00 a.m. and will continue through the end of the week to be followed by Zone 2. (Stay tuned for updates). During flushing and sometimes after flushing takes place, you may find an increased discoloration of water. By flushing at night, we hope to limit the possibility of our residents experiencing discolored water.  Please avoid water usage overnight when flushing occurs in your neighborhood.  In addition, the Water Department would like to inform residents that it is not uncommon to experience low water pressure while flushing occurs in your area.

After flushing:

If the water is clear, then proceed to utilize it.

If water is discolored, run cold water for a few minutes until it clears using a non-strained fixture such as a tub or outside spigot.  If it is still discolored, wait and run again until it clears.  Slight discoloration may remain for a few hours.

If you have any questions/concerns about anticipated schedules or would like more information, please call the Water and Sewer Division at 508-533-3275. Follow @townofmedway on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for daily notifications, or visit www.townofmedway.org/news for updates.
