Health Department Update on Recent COVID-19 Blast

post

With the recent surge in COVID-19 cases across Massachusetts and the likelihood, there are many people you know testing positive for COVID-19, we realize you may have many questions. Please know that the Medway Health Department, in conjunction with your Public Health Nurses, sympathize with the fear surrounding COVID-19. It is our main focus to provide all residents with the proper tools and education in the event you test positive for COVID-19.

Tools & Recommendations:

  • The best way to protect yourself from COVID is to obtain vaccination and a booster in accordance with CDC guidelines. In addition, it is recommended that you always wear a mask in public and continue to social distance whenever possible.  You can visit MASS.GOV or 211 for updated information regarding COVID-19 vaccination and testing sites.
  • If at any time you have symptoms of COVID, please obtain proper testing. If you are unable to obtain testing please isolate at home, wear a mask and remain separated from household members.
  • If you do test positive, you are to isolate at home for 5 days beginning on your positive test date and continuing through to the completion of Day 5. On Day 6, you may leave your house but must wear a mask when outside the home or around others for an additional five days.
  • Additionally, you must have had a full 24 hours of improvement from original symptoms and remain fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication such as Tylenol or Motrin.

(It is very important to note that most symptoms associated with COVID-19 are manageable at home. Mild symptoms include body temperature below 100.4 degrees, a mild cough, and body aches. If you experience moderate symptoms such as fever higher than 100.4F degrees, significant coughing, and shortness of breath at rest, contact your primary care provider).

  • In the event you experience severe symptoms such as the new onset of confusion, extreme drowsiness, severe trouble breathing, or chest pain, go to your nearest emergency department or call 911.

Our number one goal is your health and well-being. Your patience, cooperation, and diligence to good health and health practices are most appreciated!
