Water Quality Treatment Plant and Facility

post

Project Scope

The project is being undertaken to address elevated levels of iron and manganese in the Town’s public drinking supply wells.  The new water treatment plant will receive raw water from 3 well sources and remove iron and manganese while also reinforcing the Town’s potable water supply.  The plant will consist of a treatment process area, a small administrative/operations area, and a vehicle storage garage.  The treatment process will include chemical treatment and the use of pressure filtration with Greensand® media to remove the iron and manganese.  The project will also include miscellaneous site improvements including the demolition of several existing unused buildings that are obsolete.  Once the water treatment plant is constructed, the Town will receive immediate benefits related to public health.  The plant will allow the Town to consistently deliver clean drinking water in compliance with federal & state regulations while maintaining an adequate supply.   It is anticipated that the total construction period will be approximately 24 months and is tentatively scheduled to begin in June 2022.
