Button Cell Battery Recycling

button cell

Battery recycling aims to reduce the number of batteries being disposed as solid waste.  Batteries contain a number of heavy metals and toxic chemicals and disposing them with trash contributes to soil contamination and water pollution.  Button batteries are commonly used in hearing aids, key FOBs, watches, cameras, and calculators.

Button battery collection boxes are located throughout Medway and an additional benefit of recycling your batteries at one of our collection boxes is that we are awarded $100 for each pound of batteries that we recycle with Wheelabrator Technologies.  Medway has participated in this program for the last five years.   For the year 2018- Medway residents helped raise $1,000, which is donated to the MSPTO Alex Handy 5k which supports youth safety and scholastics in Medway, Massachusetts!
