Important Message from Medway Parks and Recreation and the Department of Public Works - Choate Park Trash is Carry-In, Carry-Out until further notice

POSTED ON: JUNE 7, 2022 - 12:39PM

Friends and users of Choate Park.. The trash at the park is becoming an ongoing problem. Every Monday we arrive to a park with trash barrels overflowing, broken balloons, confetti, uneaten birthday cake, and stacked pizza boxes.

Starting this Wednesday, June 8th on a trial basis all trash barrels will be removed from Choate Park. The park will be packing it in/out. We need help from the public to make this successful. Helping out is easy! Some ways you can help keep our parks clean and beautiful include:

Please do not litter.

Minimizing your own trash. Reduce the amount of waste you bring into our parks by using re-usable containers that you can bring home afterward.

Practice pack it in, pack it out. If you bring something with you, take it with you when you leave. That includes food scraps, fishing supplies, and party decorations!

We are asking that for parties, please don’t use confetti or balloons. They are often not picked up and are a danger to our wildlife.

By working together, we can ensure that our parks and open spaces remain clean, safe, and beautiful for residents and visitors to enjoy for years to come. Thank you for doing your part!
