Town of Medway's Department of Public Works Deputy Director

post

Every team needs great leaders, and in the Town of Medway's Public Works Department, one of those leaders is Sean Harrington. Sean joined our team in July as our new Deputy Director. Mr. Harrington brings with him an abundance of experience as he served as a Superintendent (2 years) and Assistant Superintendent (3 years) in the Water, Sewer & Drains Division for the Town of Needham. Before that, he served on the Boston Water and Sewer Commission for thirteen years.

Sean has always believed that a good leader is willing to get his hands dirty.  That is why, as you drive around town, you will most likely find Sean in the field working with his staff, in all divisions, to help complete a project or meet the department’s goals.

A major portion of his day-to-day work involves managing the seven programs within the Department of Public Works: Facilities, Parks, Highway, Fleet Maintenance, Water, Sewer, and Solid Waste. In his role, he is responsible for facilitating and supporting the work of the Public Works Director and provide a professional level of resources for related functions and operational responsibilities. His goal is to develop and foster an environment focused on teamwork, customer service, and responsiveness to community inquiries.

Sean and his wife, Erin, have three children, Drew, Lacey, and Reece. They live in Walpole. Sean is a family guy and loves attending his children’s activities.  His family loves to travel, hike, and spend time at the beach, especially Cape Cod. In his spare time, Sean is a basketball referee. He holds a degree in Sociology from UMass Boston.
