Hunting/Discharging of Firearms

There have been several inquiries recently concerning hunting or discharging firearms on various town properties.

The Town by-law section 12.20 reads no person shall fire or discharge any firearms within the limits of any school, park, playground or other town property and or private property, or hunt or fire or discharge and firearms on private property without the written consent of the owner or legal occupant therefore, or in the case of Town property the Chief of Police.

At this time there are no plans by the Chief of Police to allow any hunting on any town property within the Town of Medway. Residents are also reminded that it is illegal to discharge a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling or other building in use, except with the consent of the owner or legal occupant of the property.
