Obituary

Captain George E. Cody, Jr. 73, of Franklin died August 12 in his home following a long illness. He was the husband of Cheryl L. (Cookson) Cody for the past 45 years. Mrs. Cody is a retired Medway Public School teacher.

Born in Framingham, May 26, 1945, the son of the late George E. and Gertrude (Manning) Cody, George was lifelong Franklin resident.
George was graduate of Franklin High School, Dean College and had attended Babson College.

Mr. Cody served on the Franklin Fire Department for 34 years, retiring as Captain. He also operated George E. Cody and Sons Masonry.

He was a member of the Franklin Elks Lodge, the Franklin Rod and Gun Club, and the Franklin Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cribbage, woodworking, reading and camping.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons Jeffrey G. Cody and his wife JoAnn of Berkley and Stephen W. Cody and his wife Danielle of Franklin.

He is also survived by his sister, Anne Maffei and her husband Ken of Walpole.

He was the grandfather of Piper, Andrew and Grace.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 16 in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main street, Franklin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Sherborn.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
