Business Spotlight: T.C. Scoops

Tina Chemini, a resident of Holliston, opened T.C. Scoops in August of 2011.  Modelled after a combination of a Ben & Jerry's store and a coffee shop, T.C. Scoops offers a comfortable and welcoming environment.

T.C. Scoops sells Hershey's ice cream, and is the company's only "Scoop Shop" in this area.  Tina fell in love with this product while vacationing in New Hampshire, so every taste reminds her of summer.  In addition, T.C. Scoops is allergy friendly, maintaining both a gluten and nut free case and a non-dairy case of FOMU Coconut milk frozen treats.  Both cases feature sterilized scoops that are never used with dairy, nuts, or gluten.

T.C. Scoops is a community based business that is event driven.  Tina and the staff welcome all groups into the store to use the space and enjoy our ice cream.   The cozy space has been host to girl scouts and boy scouts events, football fundraisers, basketball sign-ups, paint parties, a Lego Club, classroom projects, candy making classes, and specific cause fundraisers.

Tina works hard to also create a sense of community outside the space by participating in local events such as town events (Medway Pride Day, Medway Family Day, Celebrate Holliston, etc. ), home-based birthday, graduation, employee and customer appreciation parties, bar and bat mitzvahs, and weddings.   She also tirelessly donates time and product to local groups such as the Medway Community Church's weekly Community Table, and annual harvest fair,   Medway schools' annual Ice Cream social and fundraiser, the Holliston Veterans Day luncheon, and the Benjamin Franklin Charter School's annual Ice Cream social.  Chemini has donated thousands of dollars’ worth of gift baskets and gift certificates to fun runs and fundraisers of all sorts, and sponsor sports teams in every sport season with financial donations.

In order to better accommodate the community at in-store events and group gatherings, T.C. Scoops is looking to move to a larger location in March, still within the Medway Shopping Center, but is lacking the funds to do so. All of owner Tina Chemini's savings was spent finishing the current location, which the business has now outgrown. The new location will provide more indoor and outdoor seating, a dedicated party/function room, available for public and private use, and the potential of adding a variety of food items, including a new gourmet hot dog lunch service.
