The June 22, 2008 Milford Daily News Article about past due taxes misrepresented the amount of past due accounts for the Town of Medway.  The correct number for past due LY 2007 taxes is $72,224 as of June 19, 2008 when the reporter made his public record request.  Past due taxes for 2007 taxes as of the end of the 2007 fiscal year (as of June 30, 2007) was $398,302 (which have now been collected down to the $72,000 remaining). 

These are the numbers that were provided to the reporter.

The first Quarter Preliminary FY 2009 tax bills will be sent by no later than June 30, 2008.  The bills will be due on Friday, August 1, 2008.  This is a preliminary tax bill (an estimate).  Under MGL the Board of Assessors will determine your actual 2009 taxes before the 3rd Quarter tax billing (the bill sent in December and due February, 2009).

The Treasurer/Collector's Office is open from 8 am until 1pm on Fridays, so please plan accordingly if you are dropping off your payment on tax day.

As always, you may pay your Town of Medway tax bill on-line through the Town's on-line bill  payment as late as 11:59 pm (transaction must be completed) on August 1st and be timely. The link to the bill payer is found on this page and the main page of the Town's website.

If you drop your payment in the collection box in front of Town Hall on August 1, 2008 after the office is closed, your payment is late.   You may use the Medway Cooperative Bank drop-off on August 1, 2008 until the Bank's closing time and be credited as on-time.

Please use the Town of Medway on-line bill payment (see link on this page). It is safe and secure and the most efficient posting method for the Town.

If you pay on-line through your bank, please make sure that you indicate the correct bill number on the memo or advice.  Failure to indicate the correct account number may cause the funds to be misdirected to an incorrect account.  The Town has no obligation to move the funds to the account you intended to pay or to waive any interest that accrued due to the misdirection of the payment.  For example, if your payment shows your water account number and you are attempting to pay your motor vehicle excise tax, your funds may apply to the water account. If the MV excise tax bill remains unpaid and goes into collection, the Town has no obligation to repost the funds and waive fees and interest on the excise tax bill.

If you choose to pay by check-Please return the remittance copy of your tax bill with your check.  This saves time and money by making your T/C office more efficient. Thank you for your cooperation!
