2012 MOTOR VEHICLE EXCISE TAX BILLS MAILED - Thursday, January 19, 2012

 

THE 2012 MOTOR VEHICLE EXCISE TAX BILLS WERE MAILED ON JANUARY 31, 2012.  THERE ARE NEARLY 13,000 BILLS IN THIS MAILING. IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED YOUR BILL BY FEBRUARY 6TH, PLEASE EMAIL US FOR A COPY (EMAIL LINK ON THIS WEBPAGE). MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL LAW DOES NOT PERMIT WAIVER OF INTEREST OR FEES DUE TO FAILURE TO RECEIVE A BILL.

THE BILLS ARE DUE ON MARCH 1, 2012..   MARCH 1ST IS A THURSDAY. THE T/C OFFICE IS OPEN FROM 8:00 A.M. TO 4:30 P.M. ON THURSDAYS. YOU MAY ALSO PAY THESE BILLS ON-LINE THROUGH THE LINK ON THIS PAGE OR USE ONE OF THE CONVENIENT DROP BOXES AT CHARLES RIVER BANK OR IN FRONT OF TOWN HALL. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU USE  THE TOWN HALL DROP BOX AFTER HOURS, YOU MUST DROP THE PAYMENT OFF THE DAY BEFORE THE DUE DATE TO BE CREDITED AS ON TIME..  PAYMENTS RECEIVED IN OUR DROP BOX AFTER HOURS ARE CREDITED FOR THE FOLLOWING DAY. 

 IF YOU NO LONGER OWN A VEHICLE FOR WHICH YOU ARE BILLED, YOU MUST FILE AN ABATEMENT APPLICATION WITH THE ASSESSORS. THE APPLICATION MAY BE FOUND ON  EITHER THIS PAGE OR THE BOARD OF ASSESSOR'S WEBPAGE.

MEDWAY RECEIVES IMPROVED BOND RATING - Tuesday, January 24, 2012

TOWN OF MEDWAY BOND RATING IMPROVED TO AA STABLE.

Standard & Poors has issued the Town of Medway an improved bond rating of AA Stable from AA-.  The improved rating is a recognition of Medway's continued improvement of its financial condition and building of its reserves.

COMING SOON!!!  EBILLS!!!

The Town of Medway will be offering the option of receiving your tax bill by Ebill soon.  This service will be provided through our on-line bill payment service, Unipay.  You will be able to sign up for Ebills through the Unipay site.   If you opt out of paper bills, you will not only have the convenience of an electronic bill that you can save, but you will also save the Town of Medway money.  For each paper bill that we can eliminate, we save real dollars.

Please email us at collector@townofmedway.org to begin the process.   Or fill out the forbearance form & send it to us. The link is on this page.

Although it is our duty to actively collect past due taxes, we are here to help our citizens accomplish payment through a mutually agreeable plan. We are here to work with you.

Treasurer / Collector Minimize

 

The Collector of Taxes is responsible for the collection of taxes as committed to her by the Board of Assessors. All revenues are turned over to the Treasurer on a weekly basis. The Collector is responsible for the reconciliation of receipts and her receivable balances with the Town Accountant's general ledger. 

The Treasurer serves as the Town's cash manager. In this role, the Treasurer receives all revenue from all departments and outside sources, maintains all bank accounts and records of the Town's cash position. Reconciliation of cash is done internally and with the Town Accountant on a monthly basis. The Treasurer is responsible for the investment and disbursement of funds and overseeing the Town's cashflow. The Treasurer prepares the Town payroll and pays the Town's bills.

The Treasurer is legally authorized by Town Meeting to borrow funds on behalf of the Town for purposes deemed legal under Massachusetts General Law 44:7 and 44:8 or by other legislation. She facilitates & manages municipal borrowings working with Bond Counsel, the Department of Revenue and the Town's Fiscal Advisor. 

The Treasurer is also responsible for the collection of tax title accounts.
