The Collector of Taxes is responsible for the collection of taxes as committed to her by the Board of Assessors. All revenues are turned over to the Treasurer on a weekly basis. The Collector is responsible for the reconciliation of receipts and her receivable balances with the Town Accountant's general ledger.
The Treasurer serves as the Town's cash manager. In this role, the Treasurer maintains all bank accounts and is responsible for investment and disbursement of funds. The Treasurer prepares the Town payroll and finalizes vendor checks for payment of the Town's bills.
The Treasurer facilitates municipal borrowings and manages tax title accounts. The Treasurer is also responsible for reconciling all bank statements and for the cash reconciliation with the Town Accountant's general ledger.
