The Affordable Housing Committee seeks proposals from qualified consultants to assist in developing documents for the newly created Medway Affordble Housing Trust and establishing programs and budgets to support the production and preservationof affordable community housing in Medway. The Farm is located on 7 acres of the 50 Winthrop Street property which the Town of Medway purchased in 2009 using Community Preservation Act funds as approved by Town Meeting. There will be a Community Outreach Meeting on Tuesday, March 16 at 7 pm at the Medway Public Library on HIgh Street. Brittany Sidway, the Farm Manager, will be introduced.

Medway residents and business owners are sought to serve on the Economic Development Committee.

A Medway resident with architectural training and experience is needed to serve on Medway's Design Review Committee (DRC).  The DRC meets twice a month on the first and third Monday night of each month. The Committee is charged with reviewing development propsosals and providing recommendations to the Planning and Economic Development Board.  The DRC also reviews proposed sign designs before sign permits are issued. The Committee uses the Medway Design Guidelines in its work.  Interested parties should send a statement of interest and a brief resume to: saffleckchilds@townofmedway.org. or call 508-533-3291 for further information.

In late August, the Board embarked on a 10 month schedule to evaluate the Medway Land Subdivision Rules and Regulations and draft recommended changes. At each meeting, the Board will allocate approximately 1 hour to review a particular section of the existing Rules and Regulations and identify what could be clarified or changed. Click HERE for the meeting schedule and topics. A series of questions and concerns are prepared to guide the discussion at each work session. Once a first draft of proposed revisions is prepared (late Janaury 2010) the process will move to a number of public briefings and hearings in late winter/early spring 2010.  The residential development community and the general public are welcome to attend any meeting of the Planning and Economic Development Board to participate in these discussions. The Open Space Committee has posted two new Trail maps of Town owned open space properties which may be used by the public.  One trail is between Choate Park and Medway HIgh School. The Planning Board has published a Development Handbook, a guide to the development process in Medway. The handy reference guide provides summaries of the various permits needed from Town boards and departments and provides a flow chart to show the step by step process. The Handbook is available for viewing on the Planning Board's web pages under Planning Initiatives. Funding for the completion of the Handbook was provided by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under the 43D Expedited Permitting program.
