VALLEE SECURES $300,000 IN TRANSPORTATION BOND BILL


	Vallee Secures $300,000 for Medway in Transportation Bond Bill
Boston, Mass. – Representative Jim Vallee (D-Franklin), Assistant Vice-Chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means, today announced that he successfully included a $300,000 line item in the Transportation Bond Bill for the town of Medway. The residents of Medway, along with many commuters who travel along Route 109 will be pleased to know that there is going to be a re-evaluation of the current road system. The money will be put towards improving Route 109 in accommodating the increase in traffic of commercial and passenger vehicles. The Legislature included funding for the main access roads of Medway in the Fiscal Year 2008 budget in order to provide the town of Medway with funds to begin the design and planning phase of Route 109. The goal of this plan is to help improve the traffic flow, but to also create safer pedestrian cross walks especially at the intersections in the business district. The South West Area Planning Council has acknowledged Route 109 as a regional priority in terms of transportation. It has been one of their top two or three projects for the past five years. Vallee says, “The new design of Route 109 is something the town of Medway has needed for sometime and it is only right that they have the opportunity to do something about it now to help improve the safety of its travelers.” Office of Representative James E. The Board of Selectmen is seeking volunteers to fill vacancies on several of its committees.

The BOS will review letters of interest then interview the nominated candidates July 14, 2008.
